On May 12, 2025 the House Ways and Means Committee released draft tax reform legislation, also known as “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” Important to note immediately is that this bill is just the first draft – it still needs to go through a mark-up process, as well as Senate proceedings and vote in the House itself – the final bill is very likely to look different than this, and nothing presented below is close to being an enacted law yet. However, the draft bill does provide insight into the direction and shape of any major tax reform that could pass in 2025.
