Equity in Arts Management
8:30-10:30am
8:30am Networking/Refreshments, followed by the forum at 9:00am
The Jazz Loft– 275 Christian Ave, Stony Brook
Committing to diversity and equity in arts organizations is not about checking off a box, filling up a diversity quota, or reaching out to the few people of color that you know. It is about establishing an organizational commitment to diversity advancement.
Our panelists will discuss areas of concern directly affecting the lack of diversity in arts leadership, and how, through their own work, they strive to change the language from reaching out to welcoming in. We will delve deeper into an understanding of why people of color are not more visible in higher-level management positions in arts organizations and what actions can be done to challenge this complex, systemic issue.
