Many providers were scheduled to take spring break during April. The Governor issued an Executive Order that 4410 and 853 programs must exhaust all snow and vacation days to be eligible for the 180-day waiver. The Executive Order further went onto say that School Districts needed to continue to provide distance learning during the period April 1, 2020 to April 14, 2020. The provider agencies have been trying to receive clarification from SED as to what they are to do with respect to scheduled spring breaks that were scheduled to occur during the period of closure pursuant to the Executive Order. NYSED is still working on guidance and is unsure as to when such guidance will be available.
As clear and definitive guidance is not yet available from SED, several of the provider organizations have recommended that providers continue to provide remote learning during the spring break period if it falls within the period of April 1, 2020 and April 14, 2020. If providers do choose to close for Passover and or good Friday, they would need to have 2 extra days within your calendar to cover the days of closure.
