Our History

In 1993 if you opened the garage door of Ken Cerini’s home you wouldn’t have found a car, bicycles, or boxes. Instead you would have seen a couple of desks, some computers, a table, and chairs, two of which were eagerly awaiting some clients. This marked the beginning of what we now know as Cerini & Associates, LLP.

Cerini & Associates, LLP was started on the basis of strong client relations. With eight years of experience working for a “big six” accounting firm, Ken had a different vision of what an accounting firm and its staff should embody in how they served their clients and the impact each accountant had on his/her clients’ operations and bottom lines. It wasn’t about building a practice that focused on its own bottom line profits or extolled big corporate philosophies that didn’t leave room for creativity and responsiveness, it was about building a relationship with clients that went way beyond a balance sheet and a tax return; a vision that continues to guide the way Cerini & Associates, LLP still does business today.

Cerini & Associates now proudly boasts a staff of 50 professionals, five partners, and a growing list of new and enhanced services.

Cerini & Associates, LLP is a full-service accounting firm committed to delivering the expertise and professionalism of a Big Four firm with the personal touch and attention to detail that only a local, mid-sized firm can provide.

Cerini & Associates serves a number of industries, including healthcare, nonprofit, education (including special education providers, school districts, charter schools, and private schools), technology, and other mid-sized businesses (including construction, real estate, manufacturing, etc.) with a staff of over 40 professionals. All staff members receive extensive training, both through targeted internal and external training and memberships.

We are affiliated with many professional organizations including the NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the American College of Forensic Examiners, the Coalition of Children with Special Needs, the Coalition of Behavioral Organizations, the Interagency Council, the Social Enterprise Alliance of Long Island, and many more.
