Cerini & Associates, LLP Partners with Book Fairies to
Spread Books Across Long Island and NYC
Cerini & Associates, LLP, a leading audit, tax, and business advisory Firm serving both nonprofit and for-profit businesses, increases its commitment to the nonprofit sector, by launching a collaboration with Book Fairies, Inc. – a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that collects gently used books and distributes them to people in need throughout metropolitan Long Island and New York City. The collaboration is an effort to improve literacy, which in turn should break the cycle of poverty for many children in lower socio-economic areas. For every chargeable hour that any accountant/advisor at Cerini & Associates performs, they will work with Book Fairies to cover the cost to distribute a book to a child that doesn’t have access to books. “We felt it was important to add purpose to our mission,” said Ken Cerini, Cerini & Associates Managing Partner. “When we explored the different partnerships we could engage in, this one resonated with us, because it focuses on education and the impact of learning.”
“Cerini & Associates believes that its responsibility goes beyond the nonprofit sector and is seeking real societal change through education and literacy. Book Fairies and their mission is the perfect partner to help us accomplish this purpose,” said Shari Diamond, Partner at Cerini & Associates.
“Book Fairies commends organizations like Cerini & Associates for taking a proactive step with corporate social responsibility and making the support of local non-profits a part of their day-to-day business activities,” said Amy Zaslansky, founder of Book Fairies. “This is a perfect way for all of Cerini’s employees to take pride in their individual and collective contributions to a charity that is striving to increase literacy across New York by providing free books to underprivileged children. We are humbled and honored by their generosity and continued support. We hope more businesses will follow Cerini & Associates’ lead by understanding how consumers are more engaged when they have a vested interest or are involved in giving back to their community.”
Thank you from Book Fairies!

Half-way Towards our Book Goal!

Book Fairies source and redistributes books to under-resourced communities on Long Island and NYC to provide equitable opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive. The reading materials foster literacy and academic success, provide a respite from personal struggles, and nurture a love of reading across varying age groups. Over 1500 individuals volunteer with Book Fairies, helping to sort materials and manage regular book fairs, where registered teachers are able to take an unlimited amount of free reading material to stock their classroom libraries. Founded in 2012, Book Fairies has redistributed and donated over 3.4 million books to local high need schools, shelters, soup kitchens, correctional facilities and even underdeveloped countries in Africa. Time dedicated to clients by Cerini & Associates employees is more meaningful than typical “work.”
We are grateful for our alliance with Cerini & Associates and the impact their dedication to increasing literacy has made on the community. Employees and clients should feel gratified that they are putting books in the hands of underprivileged children across New York, and that they are single-handedly helping to eradicate illiteracy.
With their support, Book Fairies is on a mission to break the cycle of illiteracy stemming from poverty and a lack of access to reading material. It’s a simple yet incredibly impactful gesture that should be revered and modeled by others.

Another month, another generous donation from Cerini and Associates! We can’t thank you enough for your continued, generous support of Book Fairies and for your donation of $764.88 for April. As you know, this donation will be used to support our mission of supplying books to children in need across Long Island and metropolitan New York.
We are often told that we are a blessing, such as in the below thank you from teacher, Debricka Taylor, but please know that we are very well aware that we would NOT exist if we did not have supporters and partners such as the entire Cerini and Associates team.
Thank you so much!! The children in my second-grade class were so excited to receive a book for the summer. Your organization is such a blessing!” – Debricka Taylor, Wyandanch UFSD
The demand for high-quality books in impoverished areas such as Wyandanch, is beyond what most can imagine and thanks to support from individuals and companies like Cerini & Associates, we are able to help make strides to filling the gap, allowing us to continue to bring a little reading magic to those who need it most, like Debricka’s students in the attached photos.

Book Fair Made Possible Through Partnership!
I am excited to share that Cerini & Associates incredible partnership with Book Fairies allowed us to host a free book fair for every elementary child attending 1st-5th grade in the Wyandanch School District!
I’m sure everyone remembers the iconic book fairs that brought new and exciting books to the elementary schools. It was a big event to shop for books to take home and share with friends and family. Unfortunately, the students we serve in high need areas across Long Island attend these fairs with $1 in their pocket or no money at all. These children look at the beautiful books and walk away with a bookmark or a pencil. They lack books in their homes and in their schools, and cannot afford the books at the fair.
Thanks to Cerini & Associates, we can give underprivileged children the same experience of “shopping” at a book fair. Book Fairies culls brand new books out of their thousands of donations and brings the excitement of the fair to high need schools.
Every child browses through high interest books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants, and Dr. Seuss, and selects two free books to take home. These books are used to start home libraries, instill the love of reading, and bring literacy into the homes (where many of the parents use these books to learn English).
We couldn’t do it without your support of one donated book for every billable hour. Please know that you are directly impacting the lives of children living right here on Long Island. You are helping to break the cycle of poverty that stems from illiteracy and giving children a chance for success.
Thank you for all that you do! Together, we can change children’s stories…one book at a time!
