The Cerini Difference

Cerini & Associates, LLP is a full service accounting firm with a staff fifty, five partners, and a foundation built on value-added ideas and integrity. We serve many industries, including healthcare, nonprofit, technology, special education, startups, school districts, and construction, among many others. Our services include assurance (auditing and related), tax compliance and audit defense, merger and acquisition support, operational and internal control reviews, labor union defense, cost report (CFR) consulting and preparation, and funding source (mainly State Education Department, or SED) defense.

Book Fairies Collaboration

Cerini & Associates, LLP, a leading audit, tax, and business advisory Firm serving both nonprofit and for-profit businesses, increases its commitment to the nonprofit sector, by launching a collaboration with The Book Fairies, Inc. – a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that collects gently used books and distributes them to people in need throughout metropolitan New York. The collaboration is an effort to improve literacy, which in turn should break the cycle of poverty for many children in lower socio-economic areas. For every chargeable hour that any accountant/advisor at Cerini & Associates performs, they will work with Book Fairies to cover the cost to distribute a book to a child that doesn’t have access to books.

Book Fairies Read-a-Thon

The Month of August

As many of you know, we have been partnering with The Book Fairies for some time now to help their mission of sourcing new and like-new books and distributing them to underserved communities. Due to the pandemic, there is an even greater need since many children have been left in the dark without access to books. This crisis has dramatically increased the effects of the Summer Slide phenomenon, when children show up to school in the Fall, having to be re-taught what they had already learned. As a result, this phenomenon is extending its debilitating reach from ten to twenty weeks.

What is a Read-a-thon?

  • Pledge to read 30 mins for 30 days in August (or as many days as you can!)
  • Pick whatever you want to read, it is an honor system. Tell others and get them to join you!
  • Possibilities to win prizes, such as Amazon, Barnes N Noble Gift cards and more
  • Participate in all of the fun online events we have planned in August.

Throughout the month there will be Celebrity reads, family trivia nights (with prizes), and fun giveaways!

IMAGINE AWARDS

The 8th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards

The Long Island Imagine Awards was created as a way to showcase the nonprofit sector and all the good work that it does, as well as provide opportunities for deeper collaboration within the sector. The event acts as an opportunity to meet new people, discover new organizations doing business on Long Island, develop new relationships, and learn from the organizations that are being honored.

Long Island based nonprofits compete against each other in 5 categories – Arts & Culture; Innovation; Leadership Excellence; Rising Star; & Social Impact, with the winner in each category winning a $5,000 grant. In addition, the 20 finalists, 4 in each category, will each receive a professionally produced video, which will be showcased the night of the event, and two free tickets to the event.

It is with confidence that I recommend Cerini and Associates, LLP as auditors for non–profit organizations. As the Chief Financial Officer representing several companies, I’ve worked with a number of different audit teams throughout the years. They are always competent, well-organized, and thorough. Audit partner Matt Burke is very knowledgeable and professional, and available throughout the audit to answer questions or discuss any issues that arise. The firm is also a resource year-round – providing guidance for new accounting pronouncements, offering seminars & training sessions, and brainstorming options to handle unique transactions that occur.
